Sold the Humidifier

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

I sold the humidifier I had picked up at a garage sale this past summer.  I bought it for $5 and sold for $20, so that’s 400% profit and a gain of $15.  It’s always nice when you make a sale because this confirms that you really did find a bargain when you bought it.  Looking back at my record, there is only the coffee maker that I never was able to sell that I didn’t get for free.  Ok, there are a few more things I bought this past summer that I am hoping to get rid of, but the only other one I was worried about (the walkie talkies), I already have a buyer who is supposed to come on Monday.  Of course sometimes they don’t show up, but I think this guy will.

Plowing Through

Ok, I think my brain is leaking out of my head.  I have been doing my US taxes diligently and I am ALMOST done my 2006 taxes.  Why 2006?  Because I started trying to do this two years ago and that was the current set at the time.  It is amazing how different the US taxes are from the Canadian ones.  There’s so many little rules, I am not sure I will be able to do them correctly the first time around.  My plan is to complete these 2006 taxes, do the 2007 ones and then get a professional to review the 2007 ones (that one will be more complicated since I sold my house in 2007.)  Still plugging away…
