Poker Catches up with me

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

I had some work friends over for poker the other day.  Should have been easy pickings, but I lost both $10 games.   That’s -$20 for the Money2aMillion fund, but no worries.  I’ve made much more than that on poker.  I also expect $5 in the future for the post below.  Not much, but every bit counts.  I also won $20 at dice, but I had decided that this was going to be with my ‘real’ money so it doesn’t count.

Great Site for Blog Pictures

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Need pictures for your blog? No worries. Look no further than Acobox.com. They supply the pics and all you need is your blog. Just sign up with Acobox.com, copy their small one line of text into your blog post and voila – you have a high quality picture that is properly licensed and optimized for your blog. They host the picture so you don’t have to upload anything. As an example, check out the bottom of my post. This picture was put there, and the text is literally one line. All you have to do is click two radio buttons (one for alignment and one for size) and copy the code. No more cropping or resizing pictures. No more searching for hours for a great picture, only to find out its copywrited. It couldn’t be simpler. They have hundreds of posts and they are very good. Personally, It think this is a really cool and simple concept that I am surprised has not been thought of before. You can even submit your own pictures, which is a great way to keep the site going strong – somewhere to easily host your picture and also give other people a chance to take advantage of your handiwork with photography. Check it out and use it for all your blog pictures.

Poker Again

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Well, I think I should quit my day job.  My wife and I went over to our friends house and ended up playing some poker - dealer’s choice this time.  They happen to be avid readers of this blog so I will spare you the details on how I completely annihilated them all, especially my wife.  No one likes a gloater (and something about floater).  Just kidding around guys… heh heh…   Actually, I was pretty lucky all night - I was dealt a royal flush (yes - we had wildcards) at the same time I was facing 4 of a kind and a straight flush.  Even on the last hand, which was 5 card, 0 drops, 7’s wild - I was dealt a 4 of a kind, while my friend was dealt 3 of a kind.   We played with 5 bucks each, and I ended up with $14.30, which is a $9.30 gain for the Money 2 a Million project.  This brings me within $16 of this step.  I think I’ll start looking for coins again!
